South Dakota Early Learning Guidelines

Morning Sessions

 8:45 - 9:00 AM  Circle Time - Time to sing songs & get ready for our day

 9:00 - 9:45 AM  Center Time - Children engage in a variety of developmentally appropriate activities. 
  (Ex: Language & Literacy, Mathematics, Science & Discovery, Creative Arts, Social Studies, etc.)

 9:45 – 9:55 AM  Clean Up - Children and teachers work together to pick up materials and equipment.

 9:55 - 10:15 AM

    Music Time (2 days per month) – Time for self expression through music and creative movement
                                                       activities.

-OR-

Small Group Time – Time for small groups of children to work with teachers to meet classroom goals.

     Wash Up and Snack Time – Wash hands, children and teachers enjoy snack, practicing their table
                                              manners and other social skills. 

 10:20 - 10:35 AM  Group Time  – Weekly story, show-and-tell, songs, finger plays, prepare for outdoor
  play.

 10:35 - 11:15 AM  Health and Physical Development – Large group health and safety activities/games,
  Gross/Fine motor movement activities.

Afternoon Sessions

 1:00 - 1:15 PM  Circle Time - Time to sing songs & get ready for our day

 1:15 - 1:45 PM  Health and Physical Development – Large group health and safety activities/games,
  Gross/Fine motor movement activities.

 1:50 - 2:30 PM

    Music Time (2 days per month) – Time for self expression through music and creative movement
                                                       activities.
